Welcome to My Site!
Hello and welcome to my site! If you are landing here, I am assuming you already know something about me and will not go too much into the basics. If you landed here by chance and do not know much about me, my bio page will give you the Coles Notes version of yours truly. Some of what you will find in this post will resemble what I posted on Austen Authors last week, and if so, I apologize. This initial post is intended a bit of an explanation about myself and what you might expect to see here in the future.
For those who are not familiar with me and my work, I am a self-published author, mainly in the Regency England Historical Fiction genre, writing and Pride and Prejudice based fiction, and in the fantasy genre. If you take a cursory look at my books page, you will likely note that most of what is there is Pride and Prejudice based. P&P is not what got me into writing, but it is what I published first. I love the genre, as there is so much you can do with it and still make it recognizable next to Jane Austen’s work. As time goes on, however, more and more of my ambitions and focus are turning to fantasy fiction. I have several ideas in the works, including a four-book set (that did get me into writing), one based on my son’s Dungeon and Dragons campaigns, as well as another couple that are currently in the world-building developmental stage. Those will gradually come into focus and serve as the backbone of my future works. Through this you will see me continuing to churn out P&P based novels. I’m pretty prolific at those, though I suspect they will gradually slow in favor of further focus on fantasy. More on that to come in future posts.
On my front page, you have likely seen the different sections, including my most recent works, progress meters for current projects, a sign up for a newsletter, and links to the One Good Sonnet Publishing website. OGSP is the publishing imprint I started with Lelia Eye back in 2013, and it serves as the imprint for all our novels, and for the novels of my brother, Colin. If you browse about the site, you will see a books page with links to the corresponding pages on OGS, which will give you information on where you can purchase my work. Please note that OGS, though it’s better than the dysfunctional state it was in before, is still under construction, and will have ongoing improvements in the coming weeks. If you cannot find the link to your preferred purchasing location, you can always find my work on Amazon on my author’s page there. It is also pertinent to note that I put my work on Kindle Unlimited upon release, and periodically will put it back on KU after. Thus, if you are looking for a book on Kobo and you cannot find it, rest assured it will return to Kobo the next quarter. Conversely, if you would prefer to get it on KU and it is already off, it will appear there again sometime in the coming year. If you would like to know when, you can contact me.
I am a member of Austen Authors, and I post on that site every four weeks. There I post excerpts, historical facts, and other such content. Here, however, I intend to post more personal and less formal content. For example, I might post a link to a piano piece I am working on, or a recording of the barbershop quartet I am involved with. I may do a review of a book or a post about some of my favorite books. There may be anecdotes about what is going on in my life, or there might be the occasional rant about this or that. I will try to keep that last to a minimum. What you will not find here is political content or commentary, what I believe of religion, social matters, and the like. While I am happy to speak about those things, I have no desire for this site to become controversial. I believe what I believe and I respect others’ rights to their own beliefs.
One final note. Please consider this a site that is still under construction. I have several more features planned, including an updated mail list that will allow notifications for future posts. I have also turned comments off at present. At some point, comments will be turned back on, though I am not certain when that will be. There may be an announcement or two on upcoming improvements.
The only other thing to say is that I do not have a set posting schedule. I intend to put out 1 – 2 posts per week, but the timing of those posts will be as whimsy strikes me. Do not be surprised if I do not post one week, and then do three the next. My job, after all, is to write books, and much of my effort and thought is concentrated on that task.
That is pretty much it. I hope you enjoy my ramblings!
