Barbershop Christmas

I’ve spoken of my love more music many times in my books and on Austen Authors. Recently I joined a barbershop quartet group. If you need a bit of humility in your life, join a group doing something you love and you think you’re pretty good at, then play catch up with the other members.

The other guys have been singing together for many years and recently lost their fourth member to a move, and brought me in to replace him. I’ve sung barbershop before, but always one offs, never as part of a group who focused on the genre. Trying to get up to speed has been challenging, and at time’s I’ve felt like a babe in arms next to the other guys. But it’s been a blast, and one I would not have changed for the world.

A couple of weeks ago we sang in a church service and were able to get a copy of the recording. I posted The Straw Carol by a choir group a couple of weeks ago and promised I’d post our recording if I could get my hands on it. This is that recording. I hope you enjoy it!

I also promised a recording of O Holy Night from the Christmas program we had last week. We did a recording of it a couple of weeks ago with good mics and a guy (who sang in the quartet) who knows what he’s doing. I hope to have that recording before Christmas, and when I do, I’ll post it.
